Branch Development
SCME Expands Opens Connecticut Location
By James Comtois
Despite the current industry crisis, some mortgage bankers are still expanding
their physical presence across the country, establishing new branches from coast to coast.
Recently, in an effort to increase its market presence in the U.S. as well as to provide brokers in that market
with closer proximity to its service and product menu, a locally-based wholesale lender and mortgage banker has
expanded its East Coast presence by establishing a branch in Connecticut.
SCME Mortgage Bankers Inc. has opened its Milford, Conn., branch. The new office is SCME's 12th branch nationally
and the second in its Eastern division. The first is located in Tampa, Fla., which opened in February of this year.
In addition to Connecticut, SCME now operates branches in California, Colorado, Florida, Texas and Utah. The company
is authorized to do business in 18 states throughout the country.
Branch management will be under the leadership of vice president and branch manager Jim Lynch, whose responsibilities
will include staffing, oversight of branch operations, developing mortgage production opportunities and accelerating
the expansion of SCME's wholesale footprint in Connecticut. "By having a physical location in these and other
prospective markets in the Eastern United States, we will be well positioned to service additional customers, recruit
quality individuals and further develop SCME's brand awareness in those areas," said Dennis Walls, who was
hired in February as senior vice president and Eastern division production manager, in a statement.
Prior to opening the Tampa office in February, SCME opened its Colorado branch just south of Denver in Greenwood
Village in August 2006 and its Texas branch in Houston in November 2005.
