Mortgage Fraud

TransU, ID Analytics Link

By Brad Finkelstein

TransUnion here has created a partnership with ID Analytics, San Diego, as part of its efforts for business to fight identity fraud.

As part of the service, ID Analytics' ID Score product will be integrated into TransUnion's Fraud and Identity Management Services offerings. "As fraudsters become more technologically sophisticated, we are dedicated to providing our customers with robust fraud tools," said Mike Kiyosaki, executive vice president of TransUnion's Analytic Decision Services group. "By creating a best-in-class identity risk management offering, TransUnion and ID Analytics are helping businesses to find new ways to protect their customers and spend more time focusing on service. This aids in optimizing resources, reducing operational costs and increasing customer satisfaction."

Tim Keller, TransUnion's director of fraud and identity management solutions, said the partnership allows his firm to combine two approaches in the war on financial fraud.

Under the terms of the agreement, TransUnion will be a contributing member to ID Analytics ID Network. The two firms will work together to provide enhanced fraud prevention and identity risk management solutions that meet the needs of the marketplace.

More specifically, Mr. Keller said, the companies will work together to create a more robust fraud prevention product to bring to customers.

TransUnion, Mr. Keller said, delivers its fraud solutions in a variety of ways, including on the credit report, via the World Wide Web, through decisioning tools and in batch mode.

But no matter how the lender conducts its business, the aim is to get as much information to it as quickly as possible.

Mortgage fraud, Mr. Keller added, is a specialized type of fraud with its own solutions. Besides the concern about identity theft, there are also issues about whether the property that collateralizes the mortgage has been properly valued. "TransUnion is a proven, trusted player in consumer fraud protection," said Bruce Hansen, chairman and chief executive of ID Analytics. "This partnership makes it more convenient for organizations exposed to fraud to leverage the power and potential of our Identity Risk Management solutions and achieve additional security against identity crimes."
