MBA Introduces New 'Quality' Designation

WASHINGTON -- The Mortgage Bankers Association has introduced a new professional designation "focused on recognizing industry professionals whose job it is to ensure adherence to and improvement of quality-control processes and practices."

The MBA plans to make the "Certified Quality Assurance Professional" designation available to MBA member and nonmember employees in 2005.

"With the great concern about fraud in the mortgage industry, I am proud to announce that MBA is seeking to recognize quality assurance professionals who have the skills and expertise needed to implement best practices and effectively manage compliance programs," said MBA chairman Robert M. Couch in an association press release.

Candidates will need to complete a testing phase to demonstrate performance and skill sets to achieve the designation. If they are successful they will be awarded the designation at the association's annual quality assurance conference. The designation will need to be renewed every two years "by completing industry education or approved industry involvement activities," the MBA reported.
