HomeView Lending Expands Presence in Wholesale Market
By Alton Gary Simpson
ORANGE COUNTY, CA-In a marketplace where many nonconforming lenders are closing up shop and shedding workers, HomeView Lending Inc. here, which specializes in the nonprime, alt-A and option ARM markets, is expanding its sales and service team to provide better coverage for brokers and other originators across the nation. The company, which was founded in 2005, is growing by nearly 50%, including hiring the sales and service staff of Troy, Mich.-based Acceleron Lending Inc. It has begun serving Acceleron's former customers. The expanded company now has the ability to better serve customers on the East and West Coasts, and throughout the Midwest. The combined company will operate under the HomeView brand name.
"HomeView is committed to superior service in a challenging market and by adding a team of experienced professionals from Acceleron, we can give customers more of a good thing," said Serene Rosenberg, president and chief executive officer of HomeView Lending. "Our service approach is simple: HomeView's skilled sales team backed by user-friendly processes and technology helps brokers get their deals done quickly and efficiently. And now, we can do more."
A spokesman for the company noted that the lender was taking advantage of the opportunities presented by the consolidation occurring in the subprime sector to expand its operations. HomeView;s staff of about 70 mortgage professionals, who are based mainly in Lake Forest, Calif., will grow to approximately 100 with the addition of about 30 sales and service people in Michigan. John Pantalone, an experienced mortgage executive who led the startup of Acceleron Lending Inc. in late 2005/early 2006 and served as Acceleron's executive vice president for the past year and a half, joins HomeView as the senior vice president in charge of the Michigan-based sales and service group. Before starting Acceleron, Mr. Pantalone was senior vice president, wholesale operations for NovaStar Mortgage Inc. and before that he ran the central U.S. wholesale region for NovaStar.
An announcement on Acceleron's Web site said "Effective Monday, April 23rd employees from Acceleron Lending will be joining forces with its sister company HomeView Lending and operating under the brand name of HomeView. This action will greatly enhance our ability to continue to offer the same great service you've come to expect from Acceleron in the past and expand the product line we are able to offer. Your contact with existing sales and operations people will remain the same."
The spokesman noted that the transition will be seamless for former Acceleron customers who have been alerted to the change and that existing HomeView customers will not be affected. He said that for HomeView's current base of brokers, there's no change--unless they're in the East and want to take advantage of the time zone difference to reach the new Michigan office during off hours for the California office. He added that Acceleron's former customer base of brokers will find enhanced customer service with the additional support of HomeView's loan operations team in California.
