Argent Mortgage Launches Online Educational Program

By James Comtois

In order to help its approved brokers enhance their professional skills and build their businesses, Argent Mortgage Co. is launching a new online educational resource.

Argent University, powered by CampusMBA, the educational arm of the Mortgage Bankers Association, will provide unlimited access for 12 months to more than 50 online courses for the single price of $350, which is slightly more than the cost of just one traditional web-based course. Available exclusively to Argent-approved brokers, bankers and loan officers, this educational opportunity is available on the Argent website at www.argentmortgage.com.

"We believe that every mortgage professional should have access to the same core education and skill sets, providing the industry with a benchmark of ethics and professionalism. Argent-approved brokers who take advantage of this opportunity through Argent University will be able to gain an edge over their competitors, build credibility with their customers and keep pace with the rapidly changing marketplace," said Sam Marzouk, president of Argent.

Many of the online courses at Argent University are continuing education courses that can be used to satisfy requirements to renew state broker/loan officer licenses and many others meet the requirements of certain state licensing departments.

Through Argent University, participants can brush up on their mortgage skills, research specific subject areas, keep current on new regulations or master new areas of expertise to better serve the interests of borrowers.

Argent decided to offer its program through CampusMBA because it has an established online educational program and a proven system of delivering professional training in the industry. "The Mortgage Bankers Association is excited to be working with Argent to bring Argent University to the broker community. We share Argent's goal to distribute relevant and timely knowledge to mortgage professionals to foster their career growth and build credibility among consumers," said Dan Thoms, vice president of education and business development for MBA.

Argent University differs from other mortgage education programs in that it offers full access to all online courses for one low fee per individual student and was designed based on feedback from actual mortgage professionals who said they wanted a higher industry standard that borrowers could trust.

To help mortgage professionals decide what courses they need and in what order, Argent University has established "libraries" that organize online content into four distinct areas: Mortgage Skills; Continuing Education; Fraud and Regulatory Compliance; and Industry Knowledge and Updates. Within each library, the coursework is divided into three educational paths (beginner, intermediate and advanced).

Brokers can follow these learning tracks or strike out on their own, choosing any course from any library in any order. Some Argent University courses are available in alternative formats including booklets, audiotapes and online instructor seminars. Automated self-assessment tests provide immediate feedback and results.

To enroll in Argent University, visit www.argentmortgage.com and click on Argent University. Here, Argent approved mortgage professionals can sign up for the exclusive $350 a year fee that is paid directly to CampusMBA, not to Argent. Argent University will also offer 1,000 student scholarship seats to approved brokers through various promotional offers and opportunities. Recipients of these promotional scholarship seats will have online access to all Argent University courses and content for one year.
