Recruiting and Training

InterBay Graduates

InterBay Academy, the training arm of small-balance commercial lender InterBay Funding here, has certified 2,000 graduates from its program. "I feel like it was just yesterday when we were announcing our 600th graduate," says Thomas Brubaker, InterBay vice president of marketing. "InterBay Academy has been enthusiastically received by mortgage professionals since debuting in March. The increasing interest in the academy clearly demonstrates the opportunity that both veteran and novice brokers see in pursuing this market segment, given the current turbulence in the residential mortgage markets."

Currently the program has 8,000 mortgage brokers registered for classes. "Loan officers have to be willing to adapt in order to keep up in this ever-changing market. A great way to do that is to expand your offerings to include commercial products," said Jaimie Sides, who was the course's 1,000 graduate.
