Reverse Mortgages

New NRMLA Officers

There is new leadership at the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association as the trade group has sworn in as co-chairmen Joe DeMarkey of BNY Mortgage Co., Milford, Mass., and Bart Johnson of Financial Freedom, Irvine, Calif.

They succeeded two people from their own firms, Sarah Hulbert of BNY Mortgage and Jim Mahoney, chairman of Financial Freedom, who served as co-chairs for the past three years.

Mr. DeMarkey is director of corporate development at BNY with over nine years experience in the reverse mortgage industry. Mr. Johnson is president of Financial Freedom. A career mortgage banker, he joined the company in late 2002 as chief operating officer, and was promoted to president in November 2005. At the beginning of 2007, Mr. Johnson relinquished the internally focused day-to-day management of the business to assume a more externally focused national and international role.

NRMLA also elected Patrick McEnerney of MortgageIT, New York, as vice chairman; Dean Jones of SCME Mortgage Bankers, San Diego, as secretary; and Dan Ryan of Farwest Mortgage Bankers Inc., based in Placentia, Calif., as treasurer.
