Tech Tool Helps Georgia Lenders
ATLANTA -- The Georgia State Trade Association of Nonprofit Housing Developers
has launched the Affordable Housing Venue, a multifunctional Internet-based tool for its members.
AHV features an extensive database of contact information and a resource library.
It allows for free online discussion groups as requested by users, provides a community development-related events
calendar, and access to information about housing policy, advocacy and fundraising entities and issues, as well
as useful information about training and job opportunities. It is available to over 40 member housing developers
in the area.
The AHV portal was made possible by a grant of $10,000 from NetBank Inc. of Alpharetta,
Ga. Another grant of $9,000 was provided from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta. Aid also came from TechBridge.
This program "is a great example of how the technology sector is stepping
up to help the nonprofit community through financial support and technical assistance for leveraging technology,"
said TechBridge CEO Jack McMillan.
Being a nonprofit, TechBridge is dedicated to assisting nonprofit organizations
with technology solutions tailored to their specific needs.
AHV "will allow us to share, organize and deliver vital information and resources
to our members supporting the important public purpose of increasing the supply of quality affordable housing in
some of Georgia's most disinvested communities," said GSTAND executive director Ken Knox. "Not-for-profit
housing developers can significantly increase their impact through expanded funding, internal education, higher
developed systems and expanded market opportunities."
