WE ARE THE PEOPLE FOR WHOM THE GOVERNMENT EXISTS
By Joel S. Pate
Occasionally, and this is one of those occasions, business owners and originators come out from under their rock and decide that the government has gone too far.
Last week, as many of you know by now, a federal judge in the District of Columbia enjoined the Department of Housing and Urban Development from promulgating their rule that would have ended down payment assistance.
The point of today's short article isn't to comment on how unfair the government can be or might be from time to time, but instead it is to encourage each of you, whether an originator, a processor, a correspondent lender or the servicer or subservicer to have the courage to fight against the proposal in Congress that will have a tremendously negative effect on the industry and on the potential borrower for years to come.
At the end of every cycle, the government goes looking for "the" culprit. "Someone must be to blame," they say.
While defeating these new regulations and laws is important, and we must rise to the occasion now to win, more than that, I want to encourage you, whether we win or lose this battle, to not crawl back into your comfort zone and into your busy personal and business lives afterward.
Now, more than ever, we must all maintain a diligence towards our government. We must be involved. Go to the rallies. Fight through all of the clutter to understand what the heck a politician really stands for. We must stay involved to provide direction and influence to our representatives. We must individually and collectively have a loud voice.
I love our country, just like you do. I support our country. But, remember, our government was formed "by the people and for the people." Thus, one could conclude, if the people are not as involved as we should be, then our government is not as good as it can be, and as it must be.
Let's get involved, as individuals and as an industry, even more in the inner working of the government. Not so that we can get our way, but so that the actual underpinnings of the three branches of government will be stronger.
Without you and me, the government of our great country will not be as strong as it can be. Let us today, when faced with this overreaching legislation vow to not only defeat this Bill but to stay focused, not only on legislation that directly impacts us, but, instead on the government at large. Let's take our place as the people for whom the government exists.
PS: Thank you for reading my articles each and every week. Many of you have taken me up on the offer to provide you with a SIX MONTH FREE TRIAL to The Daily Communicator. TDC is proven to assist you in increasing your persona in your community with the real estate agent community. You may not be comfortable working with agents, but, you must try harder. TDC has proven to help even the most anti-agent oriented Originator break in with the purchase community. October 31st was the last day you could sign up for the Six Month Trial.
We have had such an overwhelming request for TDC, even without the Six Month Free trial that I want to take this opportunity to announce our end of the year special. If you agree to purchase TDC for one year, we will reduce the cost by 50%. It's like getting TDC for FREE for SIX MONTHS. Just go here: www.vadiumgroup.com/cpexpert.php, and you will be taken to TDC. Your credit card will be billed for an upfront fee of $414 for an entire year of TDC. This is a savings of over $400.
For everyone that purchases today, you will qualify for a never before released interview with Greg Frost on how to enter and take advantage of the FHA Down Payment Assistance Business. Since it is hard to put an actual value on this recording, since it very well could change your entire production next year, we decided not to put a value on it, but, instead to give it way FREE of charge to originators that thought enough of themselves to take advantage of the proven Realtor(c) Referral Partner Marketing Program The Daily Communicator.
Don't delay. Offer only good for today, November 12, 2007
