CP Loan Expert

Mid Year Re-Commitment

By Joel S. Pate

As I start to write my article this week, I must pause to tell you a story. My wife and I have been married for 21 years. We have two daughters. I enjoy working. Actually, I am a workaholic. There I said it.

Yesterday, as I arose to begin a long time planned family vacation, (As a workaholic, this is a difficult undertaking, add to the mix two "almost grown" daughters, and it becomes nearly impossible to orchestrate) my wife said that she needed to take our youngest daughter to the doctor before we left town. My daughter was in pain. Not knowing the depth of the issue, I continued to pack and get ready.

In the back of my mind, I wondered if the problem would balloon into a bigger problem or just be a normal last minute doctor visit to calm the nerves.

The next call from my wife was that they were going to the hospital and my daughter would have surgery in two hours. Shortly thereafter as I stood beside my daughter in the pre-surgical area, I began to reflect on all of the times I had worked during important events: All of the times I was traveling on business and not at one of her games, or in the midst of an important part of her life, I stopped to take a call. You know, damn the cell phone!

As Brad Finkelstein wrote in his last article, it is time for us to take our lives back. To schedule our life into our calendar before we schedule others into our life.

My friend Greg Frost calls it time blocking.

This episode with my daughter, minor surgery, but, still surgery, still something I can't control, reinvigorates me to overcome the challenges that we all face, that we all make New Year's resolutions to stop doing, to overcome: Schedule the important things in my life, birthdays, anniversaries, ball games, dances, dates with my daughters and separate dates with my wife, family night, additional time off around the holidays, etc, etc, etc. before the time is taken with a customer.

Will you join with me, mid year, in a re-commitment to the resolutions you made six months ago? Let's do it.

That being said, I have stopped to take time with my daughter this week. We will discuss more about investor CP Loans next week.

Dedicated to coaching you to CP loan success!
